Indian railways to install automatic signaling system on six routes in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The Indian Railway is the preferred mode of transport for the poor and middle-class. In order to boost the railway infrastructure in Bengaluru division, the Railways have decided to implement automatic signaling system on six major routes in Bengaluru.

For the convenience of train movement and to prevent accidents, Railways has decided to install automatic signaling system on six major routes. It has been approved for a total distance of 639 km and will be taken up at a cost of around Rs 874 crore.

Some routes earmarked for installing automatic signalling: 

KSR Bangalore City-Yeshwantpur-Yalahanka

Yeshwantpur-Arasikere

Lottegollahalli-Hosur

Whitefield-Jolarpet

Baiyappanahalli-Penukonda-Channasandra

Bangalore City-Mysuru

At present, automatic signal has been installed on the KSR Bangalore City-Whitefield section of the Bangalore section of the South Western Railway. So far, the signalling  was being  operated manually in the railway relay room. Now, signalling will be automatic and will increase the efficiency of trains and enhance convenience for passengers.

Overall, this move by the railway department has brought cheer to the passengers.
