The lake water has been polluted due to effluent and sewage discharge, say locals.

BENGALURU: A major fish kill was reported at the Ramakrishnapura lake near Chandapura in Anekal taluk due to contamination of the lake with sewage water.

Hundreds of fish were found floating in the lake which is adjacent to the Prasanna Venkateshwara temple in Ramakrishnapura. A stench engulfed the temple and surrounding areas as a result of the fish death.

The Ramakrishnapura lake is covered with weeds.

According to locals, polluted water from industries and sewage from the apartments nearby has led to the contamination of the lake, which resulted in the fish deaths since Wednesday. However, the authorities have not bothered to act, they alleged.
