KALABURAGI: The house of a man accused of defiling a statue of Dr B R Ambedkar was pelted with stones and a two-wheeler damaged by a mob around midnight on Wednesday. Not only that, the family of the accused was also abused in foul language.

The accused had allegedly defiled a statue of Ambedkar at Kotanur (D) Layout in the city and was released on bail by a local court. The attack happened after he returned home. The miscreants, numbering about 50-60, also damaged several other two-wheelers and broke the windshields of parked cars.

The Veerashaiva-Lingayat community has expressed its anger against the attack and demanded action against the culprits. The community has also warned of a bandh is no action is taken against the miscreants.
