BENGALURU: After revision of Gruha Lakshmi and Gruha Jyothi guarantee scheme beneficiaries, it’s now the turn of social security schemes with the state government moving to revise pension schemes.
The government has expressed suspicion about 23 lakh beneficiaries and a report says they are receiving pension suspiciously. Thus, the government plans to verify 23 lakh beneficiaries. After collection of documents, a reduction in number of beneficiaries guaranteed is expected, according to Deputy CM G Parameshwara.
Why the review
- People below the eligible age have got pension sanctioned.
- People having higher income limit have got it.
- Those who are in HRMS are receiving pension.
- Income tax payers are receiving pension.
- Those holding APL card are beneficiaries of pension scheme.
- Those having less disability than fixed by government are receiving pension.

Social security pension irregularities
- In the state, 23,14,544 beneficiaries are receiving pension suspiciously.
- Of this, 6,89,067 are Indira Gandhi old age pension beneficiaries.
- 22,315 are Manaswini pension scheme beneficiaries.
- Mythri pension is being given to 396 beneficiaries.
- Disability pension is being given to 2,40,766 beneficiaries.
- Sandhya Suraksha scheme benefits being given to 10,28,417 beneficiaries.
- Widow pension is being availed by 3,33,583 beneficiaries.
- Out of 23 lakh beneficiaries, government has suspended 18,06,032 cases.
- Cases pending where documents need to be submitted – 14,91,756.
