GBA to lodge criminal cases against those demanding commission from civic workers for bonus amount

BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has said that criminal cases will be registered against the individuals or organisations if any commission is demanded from civic workers’ bonus payout.

The GBA Joint Commissioner has issued and order stating that if any individual or organisation is found extorting money from pourakarmikas, a criminal case will be filed against them. The officer also said that civic workers should not give any commission from their bonus money to any individual or association/organisation.

This year, bonus of Rs 22,000 was announced for pourakarmikas on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti and the GBA is directly crediting the amount to the bank accounts of the civic workersr. But there are allegations that commission is being demanded from the bonus by associations, leaders, and private individuals are demanding commission who claim that they got the bonus sanctioned.

Hence, all Zonal Commissioners have been put on alert to take action against such people and instruction have been give to create awareness among civic workers not to give any share of the bonus to anyone. The GBA has said that if such cases are found, information should be given immediately to the officials concerned and criminal case to be filed if commission is demanded from sanitary workers’ bonus money.
