BENGALURU: Former Kannada actress Ashita Crasta has opened up about the casting couch in the Kannada film industry and said that she chose to quit instead of becoming a victim.
Ashita, who was one of the top stars in the year 2000, spoke to a YouTube channel and said that she had started to get some big projects and along with that came “unhealthy demands”. “I was told that only if I obliged, I would get the projects and was even offered extra money. But I chose to quit.”
Further, she said that during 2005-06, people involved in politics and real estate started investing in films. “Things were smooth in the beginning for me. But, as my acting career started taking off, unhealthy demands also started,” she said.
“Many people don’t know, but I couldn’t face such challenges and I couldn’t agree to such demands. Hence, I left the movie industry. If things are alright now, I am ready work even now”, Ashita added.
