The young male elephant was found dead in a ditch by the roadside.

BENGALURU: A young male elephant was found dead in a ditch by the side of the Harohalli Road at Bilanganakuppe in Anekal taluk early on Tuesday under suspicious circumstances. The elephant, aged about 8-10 years, is suspected to have been hit by an unidentified vehicle.

On receiving information, Bannerghatta National Park Assistant Conservator of Forests Ravikumar and other staff visited the spot. Later, Bannerghatta Biological Park veterinarian Dr Kiran arrived at the spot to conduct an autopsy. He was assisted by local doctors.

The elephant was initially alive and struggling, but later died. The post-mortem examination will reveal the cause of death.
