CHIKKAMAGALUR: An engineering student from Bengaluru died after going for a swim in the Tunga river near Gandhi Maidan of Sringeri town on Friday. The deceased was identified as Darshan (22).
Four youths had got down into the Tunga river for bathing, but as they did not know about the depth, Darshan drowned and died in the water. The other three returned to river bank.
The police and fire brigade launched a search for Darshan. A case has been registered at the Sringeri police station.
