BENGALURU: The suspect in the Mangaluru cooker bomb blast, Mohammed Shariq, may have had links with the Coimbatore blast accused Jamesha Mubin an the two may have even met, investigators feel. The Coimbatore car bomb blast occurred in October 23, in which Mubin had died, and Shariq had visited Kerala the same month.

The police are investigating the case from all angles to nab the mastermind behind the blast. There is also speculation that Shariq may have acted alone in what is known as a lone-wolf act.

Police are investigating the relationship between Shariq and Mubin, the Coimbatore blast accused.

Like Shariq, Mubin is also believed to have been inspired by the ISIS. He is believed to have visited Shivamogga and stayed there for some time before going back to Coimbatore. Police investigation had revealed that several people took shelter in Mubin’s house and transported explosive materials during the night before his death. The police are investigating as to who was involved in the logistics.

In the meanwhile, there are questions about the links between Mubin and Shariq, and whether Mubin a suicide bomber, since he also had expertise in making bombs, sources said.

The Tamil Nadu police have sealed room of Shariq, at MVM Lodge in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore, as they have not collected enough information about the visitors to the lodge. There is suspicion that Shariq may have been involved in the Coimbatore case too.
