BELAGAVI: The Khade Bazaar police have registered a suo motu case against the owner of an Instagram account for posting provocative messages.
The owner of the account royal_belgavkar_ had posted a message declaring that all Kannada signboards and nameboards should be replaced with Marathi ones by June 27. “Otherwise, not one Kannada flag or board will be allowed. This is not a request, it’s a warning”, the message read.
The police have registered a case under several sections of the IPC for promoting hate on the basis of language and attempt to disturb peace. Investigations are under way.
