CHIKKAMAGALUR: The lone Muslim member of the newly-constituted Datta Peetha management committee has been provided with a gunman and a District Armed Reserve (DAR) contingent deployed near his house for security purposes.
“The SP has posted a DAR van and posted a gunman for personal security. The mujawar has complained about the changes brought it in at Sri Guru Dattatreya Peetha. In view of this, the security has been put in place as a precautionary measure”, Syed Mohammed Baba said.
After the new committee was set up, the Muslim community had raised objection, leading to tensions. In view of this, the local administration has already provided gunmen to the two newly appointed priests.
