Class 4 boy dies after being thrown from roof of school building by teacher

GADAG: A nine-year-old schoolboy died after he was pushed from the roof of a school building by a guest teacher, at Hadali village in Naragund taluk on Monday. The boy’s mother and another teachers have also sustained injuries in the incident.

Muthappa Hadagali, a guest teacher at the Government Model Higher Primary School in the village, allegedly assaulted Bharat Baraker, a Class 4 student, and pushed him from the roof of the school building, resulting in his death. The boy died enroute to hospital.

Bharat’s mother Geetha Baraker, who is a teacher at the same school, was also attacked by Muthappa with an iron rod when she questioned the attack on her son. Another, teacher, identified as Patil, too sustained injuries when he tried to intervene. Geetha’s condition is said to be serious and she was shifted to KIMS hospital in Hubballi for treatment.

The Naragund police have arrested Muthappa and taken up further investigation.
