BENGALURU: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid on Monday on KPCC president D K Shivakumar’s Global Academy of Technology College. They central agency questioned the trustees and checked documents and evaluated the property.

The CBI officials were accompanied by local revenue officials, and they started valuation of the property in the tahsildar’s presence. Sources hinted that commercial properties, including shopping malls, apartments and houses will be raided by CBI officials in the coming days.

The officials raided the Global Academy of Technology College in RR Nagar and officials assessed the property valuation of DK Shivakumar and his daughter Aishwarya. They verified documents in the administration department. They took information about students’ admission, fees, donations, and seats.

In September, the CBI officials raided Shivakumar’s properties in Kanakapura of Ramanagara district and filed an FIR alleging that he had accumulated assets worth Rs 75 crore in five years. The agency had checked the property documents of Shivakumar’s mother Gouramma, father Kempegowda and brother D K Suresh, and other family members.

The case originates from the income tax raid in 2017. Based on this, the CBI checked all the documents related to agricultural properties and seized them. Shivakumar has approached the court against the FIR.  Over the last few years, Shivakumar has come under intense scrutiny by central agencies including the Income Tax Department, the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.

“I have already responded to two cases. With the election approaching, they (BJP) are harassing me by conducting raids. The state government loves me a lot, which is why I often get raided. Many BJP leaders own different businesses and educational institutions, but no action is taken against them. I do not have much information about the raid on the college”, Shivakumar said.
