MANDYA: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is probing the letter sent to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, alleging corruption in the transfer of officials in the Agriculture Department, has arrested two staffers of the department in this connection.
The arrested officials are Guruprasad and Sudarshan, who are posted in Mysuru. Incidentally, the letter was posted from Mysuru to the governor. The duo was arrested on Sunday night and produced before a magistrate who remanded them to three days in police custody. The CID had sought five days’ custody, but will now have to produce the arrested officials before the judge after three days.
In Bengaluru, Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said, “Yes, they have been arrested, but details cannot be disclosed. We have information that it was they who wrote the letter. The police are investigating further. Just because they wrote a letter, it does not mean there is corruption. The investigation will bring out the truth”.
