CHIKKAMAGALURU: Families belonging to the below poverty line (BPL) category are allegedly being cheated of one kg of rice per head at a fair price shop at Chaulahiriyur in Kadur taluk by placing a 1 kg weight on the weighing scale.
BPL card holders saying that this is nothing but daylight extortion at the fair price shop. In a video doing the rounds, the ration shop owner is seen openly cheating innocent villagers who pick up their rations without any question.
If anyone asks about the weight kept on the scale, the ration shop owner keeps it aside. If no one ask him about this, he continue to cheat. This is sort of an extortion of government facilities, the villagers said.
The ration shop allegedly belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vanamala Devaraj. In the video, a person kept a one kg weight on the scale, but no one questions about it. He continued the same with others.
