BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to facilitate theatres and shopping complexes at the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Metro Station and increase its revenue.

The BMRCL officials have proposed to construct four more floors at the Metro station. It is planned to allow commercial activities in the building, which include movie theatres and shopping complexes, which will benefit the public while also generating revenue for Metro.

“From Metro, we generate two types of income. One is through ticket sales, but that income is not enough to maintain the Metro. We have installed telecom towers and also allowed advertisements to be displayed, which will help generate revenue. If we give more space to non-fare revenue, then we can generate more income. We have planned to build four more floors at the Majestic Metro station”, said Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) Managing Director Anjum Parvez.

“We are getting many proposals from the public and private sectors to move forward with the plan. If the plan is successful, we have more upcoming plans. When we get the report, we will call for the tender. We are planning to setup more commercial areas to avoid anti-social activities. If the plan works out, we’ll build commercial complexes and parking lots in other stations “, he added.
