HUBBALLI: Former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai claimed that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is preparing to parade MLAs in Delhi to cover up the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
Speaking to the media in here on Saturday, he said that the MUDA scam is already under legal scrutiny, and it must be resolved through the legal process.
“We need to see how the developments unfold and what the High Court decides. The Chief Minister is using political tactics to retain his position,” Bommai said.
About the land being allotted to Jindal at a lower price, Bommai accused Congress leaders of showing double standards by acting differently when in power and when in opposition. The decision to allot land to Jindal faced opposition even within the Cabinet and publicly.
“We had previously reconsidered our stance on this due to opposition, but now the same Congress leaders who had strongly opposed it are in favor of it. They behave one way when in opposition and another when in power,” he added.
On the Governor’s decision to return certain bills for clarification, Bommai said the Governor has not opposed any bills out of malice. He clarified that the Governor has the authority to seek clarifications on any bill that is against public interest and to withhold approval for such bills.
“This is a matter between the Governor and the government, and the Governor even has the authority to send these bills to the President,” he said.
The Karnataka High Court on Monday asked the trial court concerned not to take any precipitative action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah based on the Governor’s sanction in the MUDA ‘scam’, till the next date of hearing before the High Court.Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against the Karnataka CM and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority.
