BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has set a deadline of 12 months to complete the much-delayed Ejipura flyover work.

Five years ago, the Palike planned the longest flyover in the city. The Ejipura flyover was estimated to cost more than Rs 140 crore and only 40 per cent of the work is complete so far as the company that bagged the tender has not executed the work properly.

The flyover is on the verge of collapsing and is a major reason for traffic jams near Koramangala. The two companies that participated in the fresh tender failed during the technical evaluation and the BBMP is now calling for another tender next week.

“The tender was awarded to a company, but due to a technical issues, it was cancelled and now we have issued a fresh tender. Now, the process is going on and will be completed by the end of January, and work will begin in mid-February. We have set a deadline of 12–15 months to complete the project. It will be the longest flyover in the city and we will complete the work within the time”, said Vinayak Sugur, Chief Engineer of the Central Planning Department of BBMP.
