BENGALURU: With the alleged voter data theft case snowballing, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath himself went around different zones in the city on Sunday. A special revision of electoral rolls was also kicked off in 8,514 booths in the city.
The BBMP chief commissioner, along with a team of officials paid a surprise visit to Jayanagar and Byrasandra wards, visiting several booths, and interacted with ASHA and anganwadi workers, teachers and BBMP staff, questioning them how they go about deleting voter names. He also advised them to act as per instructions from their higher-ups.
With allegations of deletion of voter names in all the 28 Assembly constituencies in the city, a special electoral roll revision was taken up between 10 am and 5 pm where voters could add their names in case it has been deleted, or make corrections.
At the Hindi Samiti booth in Chamarajpet, there were some objections as PUC students had been roped in as Booth-Level Officers (BLOs), that too without any identity cards. The civic body officials, however, clarified that the BLOs were given ID cards later in the day.
