SHIVAMOGGA: A bank manager died after suffering a heart attack in the toilet of an AC coach of the Shivamogga-Yeshwantpur Inter-City train on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Chaudhary, a native of Assam and a manager at Union Bank of India in Shivamogga. He had come to pick up his wife and children from Bengaluru. Ashok went to the toilet in the train and collapsed after a heart attack.
The Inter-City train left Yeshwantpur on Sunday morning and reached Shivamogga in the afternoon. At that time, the toilet in the AC coach was locked when the janitorial staff went to clean it. The staff got suspicious and contacted the railway police. The railway police, who found the door locked from inside, broke it down and found Ashok dead. Later, he was shifted to McGann Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Ashoka Chaudhary’s wife had complained to the railway minister that he was missing when he did not reach Bengaluru in the scheduled train. Following this, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw instructed the Railway Police to look into the matter. A case has been registered by the railway police.
