Bajrang Dal activist assaulted for questioning attack on physically challenged man

SHIVAMOGGA: A day after one person was stabbed in Shivamogga over the Savarkar flex issue, a Bajrang Dal activist was brutally assaulted in Bhadravati town on Tuesday.

Sunil suffered a broken nose in the assault.

According to Sunil, the activist, one Mubarak was attacking Sharavana, who is physically challenged and when he questioned the act, a group of 3-4 people assaulted him.

Sunil told media persons that the group even tried to stab him. He has sustained a severe blow and has a broken nose. He is undergoing treatment at the Bhadravati government hospital.

The attack took place despite prohibitory orders in force as a precautionary measure. The Old Town police have registered a case.

Meanwhile, Bhadravati observed a voluntary bandh with shops and business establishments shut. The attacker Mubarak has several cases registered against him including peddling ganja. Only last week, he came out of jail on bail.

Bhadravati Tahsildar Pradeep Kumar said prohibitory orders have been imposed as a precautionary measure.
Bajrang Dal leader Vadivelu claimed that the attack on Sunil was deliberate while pointing out that Mubarak was invilved in several cases. He warned of serious agitation if Mubarak is not arrested by Tuesday evening.
