CHAMARAJANAGAR: To honour the sacrifices of 14 police personnel who laid down their lives in the hunt for the elusive late forest brigand Veerappan, a memorial has been built Meenyam.

Policemen get ready to offer a gun salute to the slain personnel.

Chamarajanagar SP Shivakumar inaugurated the memorial on the occasion of Independence Day. It has been built at the spot where 14 policemen fell to the bullets of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan near Meenyam in Hanur taluk on August 14, 1992.
