HASSAN: A 16-year-old mentally challenged girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a neighbour at a village coming under Halebeedu police limits. After a case was registered, the accused, identified as Krishna, was arrested.
The victim’s family members had gone to attend a function on Tuesday, leaving behind the girl at home. The accused lured her with chocolate, sexually assaulted the girl and even tortured her.
When the girl’s parents returned in the evening, the victim started to behave strangely and began screaming. Hearing this, the accused Krishna fled from the rear door of his house. The parents immediately shifted the girl to a hospital where it was revealed that she had been sexually assaulted.
The parents then lodged a complaint with the Halebeedu police following which Krishna was arrested. Police sources said Krishna himself is father to two daughters.
