KOLAR: Relatives of a young woman have carried out a deadly assault on her husband’s family members after the two fell in love and got married, at Madanahalli village in Kolar taluk on Friday.
Around 6 am today, Naveen, his father, uncle and younger brothers were attacked for going ahead with the marriage. Just three months ago, due to opposition from girl’s family members, the couple had got married in front of Ambedkar statue with the help of organizations after falling in love.
As the marriage was also not done in a grand manner, the youth’s family had planned a grand reception in the village on October 15. Unable to tolerate this, the woman Manasa’s uncles Narasimha Naik, Anil, Nagesh and Shiva allegedly attacked four people with deadly weapons.
Currently all four have sustained fatal injuries including head, hands and legs and are undergoing treatment in hospital. The bridegroom and young man Naveen’s father Shivappa, uncle Seenappa, brothers Chandra and Sandeep have sustained severe injuries and are admitted to Kolar district hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
First, Seenappa and his son, who were drinking tea near the village tea shop were attacked. Shivaappa and his son, who went to help the groom, were also injured on the head and hands and legs with whatever weapons found.
It is said that Manasa’s parents had planned to ger her married to her maternal uncle’s son. “Along with that, the reception in the village itself had enraged Manasa’s uncles. On Friday morning, they attacked suddenly us”, said the injured. The Kolar Rural police have registered a case and taken up investigation.
