BENGALURU: Right after the government hinted at milk price hike, owners of bakeries and condiment stores have decided to increase the price of beverages like tea, coffee, and curd, milk products, etc., from the day of milk price revision itself. Hotels are also likely to follow suit.

Every other day, citizens are being burdened with hike in prices of various items. The government has approved milk price hike in the last cabinet and it is said that milk prices will increase by Rs 8 per litre from November 1. This will have a serious impact on the prices of other milk products as well, and the prices of all items made from milk will increase.

Already prices of sugar and LP gas have increased, and as milk price hike has also been decided, owners of bakeries and condiment store have decided to increase the prices of bakery and condiments items including tea coffee, biscuits, cakes made using milk by 10 per cent from November 1.

Already, two meetings of bakery and condiments store owners have been held in this regard. Due to increase in prices of essential commodities and left with no other option, the prices will be increased from the day the new milk price comes into force officially. Hotels also have mostly come to the same decision.

“The milk price hike is a major blow for us as the price of sugar, which was Rs 40-45 per kg, has risen to Rs 95-100 per kg, and now there is talk of hiking milk prices by Rs 8 per litre. This will badly affect small businesses as electricity and water bills, and rents have also increased. If milk price rises, we will also increase prices from the same day”, Ravi Shetty Byndoor, president of the Karmika Parishat, told Public TV.
Just last week the prices of commercial LPG cylinders were raised and milk price is increasing to a large extent. There is no doubt that one after another price hikes will haunt people as Navaratri ends and even before Deepawali.
