18-year-old student among two dead in accidents in Hassan district

HASSAN: An 18-year-old student crushed to death after the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a truck which was parked on the road as one of its tyres was punctured. The deceased was identified as Revanth and the accident occurred on the NH-75 near Shantigrama in the taluk on Monday night.

Revanth was speeding on the motorcycle (KA 04 JG 2487) and did not notice the truck (KA 40 5849) parked on the road and crashed into it from behind. Revanth was a PUC II student at the Central Commerce College in Hassan.

The Shantigrama police visited the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.

In another accident, a pedestrian was crushed to death by an unidentified vehicle in a hit-and-run accident on the bypass road on the outskirts of Saklespur early on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Manjuanth a.k.a. Gunda (43) of Cowdahalli village in Sakleshpur taluk.

Manjunath was walking along the road median when he was run over by a vehicle which left his body completely crushed. The body was also decapitated. The Sakleshpur town police visited the spot. They have registered a case and are on the lookout for the killer vehicle.
