BENGALURU: After an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at The Rameswaram Cafe in Brookefield a month ago, there is widespread apprehension about unattended baggage. In the midst of the Lok Sabha election din now, more than 30 pieces of luggage remain unclaimed in cloak rooms at KSRTC bus stations. Some have not been claimed  even after 15 to 20 days and the cloak room staff have expressed concern about the unclaimed luggage.

Harish, a staffer at the KSRTC cloak room in the city, said that after The Rameshwaram Cafe blast, people get anxious if they see unattended luggage at any place. “When such is the  situation, some passengers leave their luggage in the KSRTC cloak room at Majestic. Though there is a per-hour charge, about 30 passengers left behind their luggage and no one has come to claim it even after 15-20 days. Sometimes, they leave it here saying that they will return in two days. If we have any suspicion, we immediately inform the KSRTC  authorities”.

He added, “No one checks what is inside the luggage. If there is suspicion, our staff will bring it to the attention of KSRTC officials and they will later inform the police”.
