FIR registered in connection with attack on BJP MLA Munirathna

BENGALURU: The Nandini Layout police on Thursday filed an FIR following the egg attack on Rajarajeshwari Nagar BJP MLA Munirathna Naidu on Wednesday. The FIR was filed based on the MLA’s two complaints alleging conspiracy and murder attempt.

Meanwhile, three people who were accused of attacking Munirathna, have also lodged a complaint with the Nandini Layout police claiming that they were thrashed by a mob. The accused are Vishwanath, Krishnamurthy and Chandru.

The police also issued notices to eyewitnesses to the incident after recording the MLA’s statement and are also collecting mobile phone videos and CCTV footage related to the egg attack. They also collected information from KC General Hospital where Munirathna was admitted on Wednesday. The police are also ascertaining Munirathna’s claims that the eggs contained acid and have sent samples to the forensic lab.

The police have also registered a zero FIR over Munirathna’s claims that Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, his brother DK Suresh, Kusuma and Hanumantharayappa had conspired to eliminate him. However, the zero FIR makes no mention of any names and lists only unidentified persons.

Meanwhile, Munirathna was discharged from KC General Hospital on Thursday and returned to his Malleswaram residence.
