MANDYA: The Srirangapatna police were dumbfounded when they found an hi-end BMW car in the Cauvery river near the Goddess Nimishamba temple on Friday.
The police were informed by locals about the car in the river. Even as they were discussing about ways to extricate it, they learnt that the car owner was mentally unsound. Rakesh, a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout in Bengaluru, had been upset ever since his mother’s death. He drove to Srirangapatna, dumped the car in the river and headed back to Bengaluru.
After the car was found, the police summoned Rakesh to the police station for questioning, but his replies weren’t coherent. The police are investigating further.
