BENGALURU: Despite the Rail Safety Commissioner approving commercial operation of the extended Metro line between Nagasandra-Madavara, there has been further. The much-awaited Bengaluru’s metro extension line is ready for operations, but the inauguration date is yet to be finalised.
Residents of the areas have been waiting anxiously for years, but it remains inoperational. The rail safety commissioner inspected three stations on October 2 and 3 and submitted a report stating that the line is fit for operations.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had written a letter to the state government seeking permission for the inauguration date. Accordingly, the state government has advised making arrangements for the inauguration, but the central government’s nod has not been received yet.
Despite the BMRCL letter being sent to the central government weeks ago, there has been no response from them. The BMRCL is waiting for permission to start operations, but the inauguration is further delayed.
The 3.14 km stretch was constructed over seven years. This will also ease traffic congestion in the area. Metro passengers, who have been patiently waiting for so many years, are now irked with the delay.
