BENGALURU: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has sought public feedback on the proposed Metro fare hike. Following the proposal, netizens have expressed strong opposition on social media.

The BMRCL fare fixation committee had announced the fare revision last month and invited public feedback on their decision. On the one hand, the BMRCL is planning to increase the fares keeping current expenditures in mind. On the other hand, the public argues that it will have to face further burden amid the rise in the prices of essential commodities .

Some have even submitted petitions highlighting these concerns. The fare hike proposal has sparked intense debate, with many urging BMRCL to reconsider it.

The issue of metro fare revision is currently leading to intense anger and opposition. Some regular commuters have also posted their opinion on the website, where BMRCL sought feedback.

A person named Basavaraj Hiremath, in his feedback, asked to maintain the road under the Metro stations. He wrote, “Roads under Metro stations don’t have storm water drain systems. Please construct SWD. Water will be stagnant for many days after rain… And also, mud will be collected due to rainwater”, he wrote.

Another netizen, Joyce Malik said, “A fare hike is understandable, but there should be a monthly pass or discounts to make it affordable for regular public transport users”.

Another said,  Don’t increase the fare … That’s bad .. Prices are already high compared to Delhi Metro and other metros”.
