BENGALURU: After the adulteration in Tirupati’s famous laddu prasadam came to light, the Karnataka government took precautionary measures and has made the use of Nandini ghee mandatory in all temples across the state for prasadam and for lighting of lamps too. The impact of this decision has extended beyond Karnataka, with neighbouring Andhra Pradesh also considering the use of Nandini ghee in its temples.
After the Karnataka government took precautionary measures, making Nandini ghee compulsory in all temples, the Andhra Pradesh government is also planning to use Nandini ghee in all its temples. The Andhra Pradesh Dairy Development Cooperative Federation Limited (APDDCF) has held talks with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) to procure Nandini ghee.
Managing Director of KMF, Jagadish, confirmed that talks are under way. If fruitfull, prasadam made from Nandini ghee will be offered to deities in all Andhra Pradesh temples.
This development could lead to a significant increase in demand for Nandini ghee, with an estimated 150 metric tons required per month. KMF will also gain the distinction of supplying ghee to other states.
Managing Director of KMF, Jagadish, said, “After the Tirupati laddu controversy, the demand for Nandini ghee is consistently increasing. We got a demand from (APDDCF) Andhra Pradesh, and talks are going on. They asked for quotations and we have given it to them. We met Tirupati executive officer and joint executive officer. We have expressed our readiness to supply whatever quantity they need. We have given all assurances on the required quantity of ghee”.
