GADAG: A pedestrian was crushed to death in a hit-and-run accident at Naregal town in Gajendragarh taluk early on Friday. The deceased was identified as Mallaiah Bakkaiahnamath (68).
The accident occurred in front of the town panchayat office and the body was torn to bits, making it unrecognisable. It is said that Mallaiah was heading to offer prayers around 5.30 am when the accident occurred.
The Naregal police, who visited the spot, suspect that a truck may have run over Mallaiah and have taken up further investigation after registering a case.
