MYSURU: Tension prevailed for some time near the RMC Circle here during checking of vehicles by the traffic police after a cement concrete mixer truck ran over the hand of a woman who was riding pillion on a scooter, on Monday.

The traffic police are said to have pulled a barricade to block the scooterist who was not wearing a helmet and was coming from Deve Gowda Circle towards RMC Circle. At this time, the woman pillion rider suddenly fell off the scooter and a cement concrete mixer went over her left hand, leaving her seriously injured.

Locals blamed the traffic police for the incident and a tense atmosphere prevailed for some time. Senior officers rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd. The woman was later shifted to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
