BENGALURU: A city-based model was duped of Rs 1.7 lakh with the promise of getting her a role in the Tamil movie ‘Hunter’ by an online scamster. She has since lodged a complaint with the Subramanyapura police.

The fraudster contacted Nandita Shetty after seeing her posts on Instagram and befriended her. He then promised to get her a role in the movie taking the name of the casting director Suresh Kumar and asked for an online audition.

Later on, the scamster told Nandita that she would have to travel to Malaysia for the shoot and sought money for passports for her and her father. After this, he took some more money saying air tickets would have to be booked. Further, the scamster asked for more money towards return tickets.

When the fraudster asked for more money yet again, Nandita realised she had been conned and approached the police who registered a case and are now on the lookout for the scamster.
