BENGALURU, BALLARI: Kalyan Rajya Pragati Party (KRPP) chief and former minister G Janardhana Reddy will officially rejoin the BJP on Monday. He will be back in the party fold without any conditions after the high command gave the green signal.
Janarnadhana Reddy held a meeting of KRPP office bearers this evening at his residence in Bengaluru. The BJP has offered to align with the KRPP and this issue was discussed in the meeting.
A day before the Rajya Sabha election, CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar met Janardhana Reddy and requested that he support their party’s candidate. Responding to this request, Janardhana Reddy supported the Congress candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections.
Janardhana Reddy had planned to contest the Karnataka Assembly elections from the BJP, but the high command did not agree to it. Later, he resigned from the BJP, founded the Kalyana Rajya Pragati Party, and won from Gangavati after contesting independently. Although KRPP won only one seat in state Assembly elections, the party dealt a blow to the BJP in many constituencies of Karnataka.
A few days ago, Janardhana Reddy met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed the merger issue.
