BENGALURU: The Congress party will release its second list of candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections late on Tuesday, AICC general secretary Randeep Surjewala said in New Delhi on Tuedsay.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar, who was also present, said, “Our aim is to bring Congress back to power in Karnataka. We will bring good governance to the state. We all stand together”.

Meanwhile, clariying about his remarks during a television interview, Opposition leader Siddaramaiah said, “I have given an interview to one electronic media house. I said in the interview that I’m also an aspirant for the Chief Minister’s post. Likewise, D K Shivakumar also an aspirant for the CM’s post. Our aim is to defeat BJP and bring Congress back to power. There is a wave in favour of Congress party and BJP is going to be defeated. My statement in the interview was misinterpreted. Ultimately, the newly-elected MLAs will have to elect the leader of the legislature party after the election. And ultimately, the high command has to take a decision. That is what I said. I never said the high command is not happy with D K Shivakumar or anybody”.

“There is strong anti-incumbency against the BJP government because it is a corrupt government. Karnataka has never seen such a corrupt government in independent India”, he added.
