Smart bus station with exciting features comes up in Electronics City

BENGALURU: The city has got its first smart bus station with may exciting facilities near The Oterra Hotel in Electronics City.

Sanitary napkin and food vending machines have been installed at the smart bus station near Electronics City.

The Electronics City Industrial Township Authority (ELCITA) has built the first of its kind smart bus station in the city at a cost of Rs 22 lakh with various facilities. The smart bus station has facilities like security cameras, a modern seating system, food vending machines, a sanitary napkin vending machine and two-way SOS panic button for emergencies for women. It also has a mini-vertical garden, a rainwater harvesting system and smart bins, as well as display of real-time bus status, charging points for mobile phones and laptops and a drinking water facility.

“Under ELCITA, we have built smart bus stations in Electronics City with all necessary modern amenities. We have security cameras and a panic button for emergencies. The bus station has facilities like charging points, a display unit to know the real-time status of buses, smart bins, a vertical garden, rainwater harvesting, and smart vending machines. For women, we have added sanitary pad vending machines. We have plans for another three bus stations in the city. We have plans to install solar panels and generate power in upcoming projects. It cost around Rs 22 lakh to build a smart bus station”, said Aniruddha Gudi, Executive Officer, ELCITA.

“It was necessary to have a bus station in Electronics City. We had to stop the bus several times because passengers wait for buses in various places. It was difficult for women to stand alone and wait for buses at night. After the smart bus station, there is much more security. The food vending machines will help people access snacks any time they need”, said Manjunath, a BMTC conductor.
