CM greets crowd with ‘Kannadada Namaste’, goads them to cheer loudly

BELAGAVI: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday had to goad the audience to clap when he began his speech at an event by saying “Kannadada Namaskara”.

The CM on Wednesday inaugurated the new building of the Sangolli Rayanna Constituent Degree College at Srinagara in Belagavi. When he began his speech, he offered salutations by saying “Kannadada Namaskara” to the audience. When there was a very feeble applause from the audience, he prodded them to applaud with more gusto.

Later, in his address, he said student life is a golden period and added that he would even now like to go back to his student days. “Students should focus on enhancing their knowledge and should develop logical thinking. Being conscious of time will help in achieving success”, he noted. He also advised them to develop self-confidence.

The CM also pointed out that a Sainik School has been opened in memory of Sangolli Rayanna which will become operational from the upcoming academic year itself.

Basavaraj Bommai, who was accompanied by ministerial colleagues Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Govind Karjol, Shashikala Jolle and legislators Aravind Bellad, Anil Benake, Prakash Hukkeri, Hanumanth Nirani, cut short the welcome speech by Rani Chennamma University Vice-Chancellor Prof. M Ramachandre Gowda and proceeded with the inauguration formalities.

The entourage was at the college function ahead of the start of the Assembly proceedings at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, which is currently under way.
