BENGALURU: A youth, who targetted women who were giving tips about private issues on a messaging platform, has been arrested by the Byadarahalli police for creating a fake account and looting money from unsuspecting people.
The accused, 21-year-old Akash from Mysuru, had created a fake account on Telegram in the name of one of the women and was looting money from unsuspecting people. Using videos of the woman, he was running fake ‘sex chat’ in their names.
The accused was cajoling some people and taking huge sums of money. It is believed that he had pocketed lakhs of rupees in the name of two women.
One of the women panicked upon coming to know of the issue and lodged a complaint at the Byadarahalli police station. The police registered a case and trapped Akash. He was arrested and sent to prison.
