BENGALURU: The special investigation team (SIT) formed to investigate the Sowjanya murder and rape case has written to the CBI and CID to hand over evidence and case files. The CID and CBI had earlier investigated the case and the SIT has sought the original documents from the investigating agencies.
Meanwhile, after a meeting, the SIT head N Shashikumar has appointed senior IPS officer Lokesh B Jagalasar as the investigating officer (IO) in the case while ACP Manoj Kumar Naik will be the assistant investigating officer.

Lokesh Jagalasar had earlier worked as SP in Bagalkot and Dharwad and as DCP in Bengaluru and is currently posted as SP in the CID. He is also an Lokesh is an engineering graduate.
The Supreme Court, while directing the state to set up an SIT, had also suggested that officers who are technically capable be tasked with the investigation. Jagalasar had led the investigation into the Rs 7 crore robbery case in Bengaluru and the team had recovered the entire money in just two days.
