BENGALURU: Amidst the NICE Road toll collection controversy, many netizens, including entrepreneurs, have expressed objection against toll collection on two major roads of the city. They are trying to draw government’s attention through social media campaign.
Outrage is now being expressed against toll collection on two major roads of Bengaluru. Riders who have risen up against excess collection along with collection violating rules, have expressed opposition to toll collection through an online campaign.

Bengaluru’s Airport road and Electronics City flyover tolls are causing intense public opposition and discussion. The 29-year agreement period for construction and maintenance of 10-km flyover from Bommanahalli on Hosur road to Electronics City has ended on September 10 this year. But National Highways Authority has reportedly given permission to another private agency to continue toll collection for next three months, causing outrage among riders.

Through a signature collection campaign Citizens for Citizens has started an online campaign. Thousands of daily commuters and IT employees are showing support by signing it.
Further, huge outrage is being expressed against Devanahalli toll plaza on Airport road. There is no toll plaza on the main road leading to the airport in any major city including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad. But only in Bengaluru toll has to be paid before going to airport itself, causing intense dissatisfaction among public.
In this regard Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has also tweeted saying this extortion on Bengaluru travellers should be stopped immediately. Toll should be for Bellary road after the airport and not for entrance of airport, they have urged Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on social media.
