BENGALURU: In yet another shock for the people of the state, another hike in milk prices may be coming. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar hinted about a milk price hike saying that he has received a proposal from the milk producers’ unions and said a decision will be taken soon after discussions.
While consumers are against a hike, dairy farmers in state are in distress. In view of this, milk unions have submitted a proposal to government for revision of milk price. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has informed that discussion will be held soon and decision taken in this regard. He also indirectly gave a hint about hiking milk price for the benefit of farmers.
Already, the common people are distressed due to price hike of essential commodities. Milk is a daily essential for every family and price of milk and curd were increased recently. Now, if milk price increases again, it will further burden poor and middle class families. and have requested CM not to give another burden by hiking milk prices.
Many are of the opinion that ever since the present government assumed office, prices have been increasing while salaries have remained the same. Even if milk price increases by 1 rupee it will be difficult, people have expressed outrage.
On the other hand, farmers are insisting on milk price hike due to price hike of raw materials needed for dairy farming. But consumers are saying that if milk price increases, it will be big burden on the poor and labour class. It remains to be seen how government will protect the interests of farmers without increasing burden of price hike on common people.
