BENGALURU: A huge fraud in the name of agarbatti and paper plate packing has come to light after a couple, who were working with a private firm attempted suicide by consuming tablets. Both are now recovering in hospital.
Hundreds of Poor and middle class people have been cheated in Bengaluru and other places to the tune of crores, allegedly by Bhoomishetty Kiran Kumar and Arathi who had opened a company named Sri Kalika Devi Enterprises. They promised more salaries if the depositors invested more for the work of agarbatti paper plate packing.
If a person invested Rs 1 lakh, they were promised a salary of Rs 27,000 per month. The accused systematically hired many for work and cheated them. Cases have been filed in many places including Doddaballapur and Chikkajala one-and-a-half months ago.
Two managers, who are husband and wife, had been appointed to get people to invest money in the firm. The managers, Suresh and Radha had been facing pressure from those who had invested for return of their money. Radha and Suresh had told the owner Kiran, who is out on bail, to return the money to the people.
After Radha and Suresh were also added as accused in case, they had gone to the Doddaballapura police station for inquiry two days ago where they were allegedly threatened.
After returning from the police station, the couple attempted suicide. Currently, both out of danger. But Radha is in a serious condition as she had consumed about 24 tablets and is being treated at a private hospital in Yelahanka.
