BENGALURU: Absconding accused in the KR Pura triple murder case, Kenneth, was arrested by the Puducherry police on Thursday night and handed over to the KR Pura police.
Kenneth was caught at a liquor outlet by the Orleanpet police in Puducherry. Kenneth had stopped at the liquor outlet to consume alcohol and on seeing the police, he tried to escape. When the police had tried to catch him, he tried to escape. Orleanpet ASI Ramalingam chased and caught Kenneth and in the process, Ramalingam also sustained minor injuries.

The KR Pura police had earlier arrested M Shwetha in Puducherry. Both were in Puducherry, but had separated midway and reached Puducherry separately.
On Friday, police brought the accused to KR Puram police station and the police are expected to produce Kenneth before a magistrate. The police have produced Shwetha before the court, taken her into seven days police custody, and are interrogating her.

The police had formed six teams to trace Shwetha and two teams to trace Kenneth. They had searched for accused Kenneth in Trichy, Velankanni, Chennai, and Coimbatore. The accused travelled to different places and reached Puducherry.
The duo is believed to have confessed to the police saying, they murdered Shwetha’s parents and younger sister, but are not revealing the reason for the murder. Further investigation by KR Puram police is under way.

Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said, “A case of triple murder had occurred in KR Puram station limits and several teams were formed to nab the accused. First, a woman was arrested and today, another person has been taken into custody. They were not using any mobile phones and arresting the accused was very difficult. The accused was caught with the help of Puducherry police. Our ten teams also put in effort. Investigation into the incident is ongoing. Interrogation of the accused is under way. There are discrepancies in her statement and clear information will be available after interrogation”.
