BENGALURU: Amid the political tussle and farmers’ protests over the Bidadi township project, the Greater Bengaluru Development Authority, which comes under the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA) is set to call for tenders to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) at a cost of Rs 26 crore.
The tender will opens on June 22 and the DPR will include a comprehensive report on how the proposed township’s entire project should be executed. The agency which wins the tender will be responsible to prepare the blueprint, master plan and roadmap for the Bidadi township.
The DPR will include details on township project implementation, required facilities there, basic infrastructure, and water availability. It will also include details of the investment process.
Meanwhile, political allies BJP and JD(S) have begun their fight against the government over Bidadi Township. A BJP delegation will visit Bidadi town villages and announce the protest.
A delegation led by Opposition Leader Ashok will visit the villages and gather information. An announcement of the protest is likely after taking farmers’ opinions. However, it is not yet known if the BJP will join the JDS padayatra on June 21 or announce a separate protest.
Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has said 80 per cent of farmers have agreed to give land and the government has already issued a notification for land acquisition. A BJP team will visit villages under the Bidadi Township project and collect on-ground reports and opinions from farmers and announce the roadmap for the protest against the government.
