10 dead, 3 injured in separate accidents across Karnataka

CHITRADURGA, KALABURAGI, KARWAR, SHIVAMOGGA: Ten people, including a newlywed man, died in separate accidents across the state on Friday.

Five people died tragically after a moving car’s tyre burst and it collided with a lorry occurred near Tumakoorlahalli Gate in Molakalmuru taluk of Chitradurga district. The five people, including Raghavendra, the joint secretary of the Challakere Photographers’ Association, were travelling by car from Challakere to Ballari.

As the speeding car’s tyre burst, the driver lost control and the car hit a lorry parked by the roadside. As a result, all five died on the spot. They were identified as photographer Raghavendra, Rudresh, Soma, Mallikarjuna, and Pramod, all from Challakere. Molakalmuru PSI Mahesh Lakshman Hosapete visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Molakalmuru police station.

Two people, including a newlywed, died in a collision between a bike and a tractor when they were heading to a wedding party in Kalaburagi taluk. The deceased are newlywed Sandeep Kantikar (25) from Mugati village and Dinesh from Ankalagi village.

Sandeep had got married on May 15 and was taking his friends to his place to host a wedding party. Sandeep and Dinesh were traveling on a bike while the rest of the friends were in a car. Sandeep died in an accident just 15 days after his marriage, and the family was plunged in grief. A case has been registered at the Traffic-2 Police Station regarding this.

Two people died on the spot and three were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a Bolero pickup truck and a Maruti Swift car near Tineghat Gavegali Cross in Karwar district. The seriously injured, shifted to Belagavi. The accident occurred around 2 am on the Goa-Belagavi highway and it is suspected that one of the drivers may have lost control while overtaking.

The deceased are from Andhra Pradesh. The injured received primary treatment at Ramanagara Hospital. A case has been registered at Ramanagara police station. Joida police visited the spot.

A motorcycle rider died on the spot after hitting a bus while another person was seriously injured in an accident close to Suttukote near Kunchenahalli, in Shivamogga taluk. The deceased was identified as Abnaan (23).

The bike caught fire after colliding with the bus and the rider also caught flames. The condition of the other rider is serious and has been admitted to a hospital. The bus was going from Shikaripura towards Shivamogga. The accident occurred under the jurisdiction of Kumsi police station.
