Revenue dept officials attacked while surveying encroached land in Magadi village

RAMANAGARA: Revenue Department officials who had gone to conduct a survey of encroached land were subjected to a vicious assault at Channiganapalya village of Magadi taluk by a group of people on Tuesday afternoon.

Even though they pleaded with folded hands, they were not spared.The officials were beaten with a stick, kicked and thrashed mercilessly. Government land had been encroached upon in Survey No. 42/1 of the village. Following a complaint by villagers to the tahsildar regarding this, Revenue department officials had gone there for the survey work.

At that time, Jayamma, Chandrashekhar and Mohan, who had encroached upon the government land, questioned why their land was being surveyed and thrashed Village Assistant Honappa mercilessly. When Village Assistant Bharath went to rescue him, he was also assaulted. They were beaten with a stick and kicked.

Honappa sustained serious injuries, and the injured officials were treated at Channapattana Taluk Hospital. A case has been registered at Magadi police station in this regard, and police have arrested the three accused.
