CHIKKABALLAPUR: A woman died under suspicious circumstances after sterilisation surgery at the Mother and Child Hospital in Chintamani town. The deceased is Narmada (24) from Batlahalli village in Chintamani taluk.

On April 24, Dr Vani Reddy performed a tubectomy surgery on G N Narmada at the Chintamani Mother and Child Hospital to prevent further pregnancies. Narmada, who had been receiving treatment at the hospital for the past 14 days, was discharged just two days ago.

But after going home, Narmada developed severe back pain and was brought to the hospital. It is said that she died by the time she reached the hospital. Family members alleged that Dr Vani Reddy cut the intestine instead of cutting the fallopian tube for the tubectomy during the surgery.

Doctor Narayanaswamy also treated her and kept her in the hospital for 14 days for treatment. However, after going home, the woman’s health deteriorated and she started complaining of severe pain at the surgical site and she died suspiciously on Sunday night.

Alleging that the doctors’ mistake caused his wife’s death, her husband placed the body in front of the hospital and expressed outrage. A complaint has now been filed at the police station, and a postmortem examination of the woman was conducted.
