BENGALURU: A gang of five men killed a lone woman for her money and staged and staged her death as an accident. However, the Mahalakshmi Layout police have cracked the case and arrested the accused.
On April 20, an accident occurred on Pipeline Road in Kurubarahalli where a woman, identified as Vijayalakshmi, died after being hit by a bike. But this was not just an accident — it was an intentional murder. The five accused arrested in the murder case are Rakesh, Manjunath, Chethan, ‘Chips’ Pradeep, Yohan John.

Rakesh hit Vijayalakshmi, who was walking on the road, with his bike and escaped. At the same time, Pradeep, Yohan and Manjunath arrived in an auto and Together they took Vijayalakshmi to a hospital. In the meantime, Manjunath took the house key from Vijayalakshmi’s purse. He went straight to her house and was searching for money and gold jewellery.
Neighbours got suspicious and, when they questioned him, he lied saying he needed Vijayalakshmi’s Aadhaar card. When questioned further, Manjunath escaped. Meanwhile, Vijayalakshmi was shifted to Victoria Hospital. Later, Rakesh himself filed a complaint with the traffic police claiming he had saved his acquaintance Vijayalakshmi, and that an unknown vehicle had hit her, requesting action.

Two days later, suspicion arose about the incident, so the house owner filed a complaint of attempted theft at Mahalakshmi Layout station. Police investigation revealed that the accident was a deliberate act with the intention of committing murder.
The accused Chethan had borrowed money from Vijayalakshmi. Knowing that she had more money, he hatched a plan to steal. For this, he roped in his acquaintance Manjunath and others. As per the plan, they hit Vijayalakshmi and took her away.
Police investigation exposed the crimes of all the culprits. But Vijayalakshmi died as she failed to respond to treatment. Just two days after the woman’s death, accused Manjunath died while in custody due to illness. Currently, police have registered a murder case and taken up further investigation.
